WooCommerce to Shopify

WooCommerce to Shopify Migration, Rankings Intact

We move your WooCommerce store to Shopify with its products, customers, orders and search traffic in one piece. Four WooCommerce stores moved so far, including a bilingual store and a set of country stores.

The short answer

A WooCommerce to Shopify migration moves your products and variants, customers, order history, blog posts, pages and images into Shopify, then redirects every old WordPress URL to its new Shopify address and carries over your SEO titles and descriptions. Done properly, customers and Google barely notice the switch. That is the job we do.

Scope

What gets migrated from WooCommerce to Shopify?

Everything a customer or a search engine would notice if it went missing. We agree the list with you up front and check each item off before launch.

Products and variants

Titles, descriptions, prices, SKUs, stock, attributes and variable products. WooCommerce allows more attributes per product than Shopify's three options, so we plan how those map before importing anything.

Categories and collections

WooCommerce categories and tags become Shopify collections, manual or rule based, so your navigation and filters still make sense.

Customers

Names, emails, addresses, phone numbers and marketing consent, linked to their past orders.

Order history

Past orders with line items, totals, dates and statuses, so customer accounts and your sales history carry on unbroken.

Blog posts and pages

WordPress posts and pages move into Shopify blogs and pages, with their images, authors and publish dates.

URL redirects

Every indexable URL, from /product/ and /product-category/ to old blog permalinks, gets a 301 to its new Shopify address.

SEO metadata

Meta titles and descriptions from Yoast or Rank Math, carried into Shopify for products, collections, pages and articles.

Images

Product galleries, variant images and blog images, re-uploaded to Shopify's CDN with their alt text.

Translations and markets

WPML or Polylang languages, and separate country stores where you run them, each with its own redirects and meta.

Process

How does the migration actually work?

Six stages. Your WooCommerce store keeps taking orders the whole time.

01

Audit and URL inventory

We crawl the live site, pull your top pages from Search Console and list every indexable URL, plugin and custom field. This list becomes the checklist for launch day.

02

Data mapping

We decide where each WooCommerce field lands in Shopify: attributes to options, custom fields to metafields, categories to collections, translations to languages.

03

Store build

Theme set up or built in clean Liquid, checkout, payments, shipping and taxes configured, plugins replaced with native features or apps.

04

Test import, then full import

A sample import first, which you review. Then the full catalogue, customers and orders, checked against the source counts.

05

Redirects and SEO

The redirect map is built from the URL inventory, not guessed from patterns. Meta titles and descriptions are written into Shopify for every page type.

06

Cutover and checks

We import the orders and customers that came in since the first run, switch the domain, then test every redirect and watch Search Console for new 404s.

Risk

What usually goes wrong, and how do we prevent it?

Most of these came up on our own WooCommerce migrations. Each one is now a step in our checklist.

Redirects that silently never fire

Shopify only applies a URL redirect when the path would otherwise show nothing. If an old URL falls under a path Shopify already serves, such as /products or /collections, its built-in route wins and the redirect is ignored. We spot these during mapping and point them at the real Shopify handle instead.

Translations paired with the wrong product

Matching a product to its translation by name looks fine until two products share a name or a translated title drifts. Polylang does not expose those links over the WooCommerce API, so we pair each product with its twin by the product images they share, then spot-check by hand.

SEO titles lost on pages and articles

Shopify keeps the SEO title and description for pages and blog articles in metafields, not in an obvious field. Importers that skip them leave every page with a default title. We write the Yoast or Rank Math values into those metafields directly.

Redirect checks that report false failures

Shopify storefronts sit behind Cloudflare bot protection, so a fast parallel check of hundreds of URLs gets blocked and looks like broken redirects. We verify redirects one at a time and keep the log.

Language folders breaking old /en/ links

With Shopify Markets, language subfolders such as /en/ are handled by Shopify's routing, which can stop redirects from old /en/ URLs from working. We test every language version of the redirect map, not just the default one.

Orders lost between import and launch

Your store keeps trading while Shopify is built. A final delta import of new orders and customers runs right before the domain switch, so nothing placed in between is left behind.

Track record

Have you moved a WooCommerce store before?

Yes. We have moved four live stores from WooCommerce to Shopify. Each move covered products, orders, customers and SEO: redirects for the old URLs and the meta titles and descriptions that were already ranking.

spaceofspace.cz

Space of Space

Czech design brand with a bilingual Czech and English store. We paired every product with its translation, carried the Yoast SEO titles and descriptions into Shopify, and redirected every indexable URL from the old site.

fragrance-perfumes.cz

Fragrance Perfume

A perfume retailer running several separate country stores. Each country store was migrated on its own, with its own catalogue, customers, orders and redirects.

4boxerz.com

4Boxerz

Full WooCommerce to Shopify move: products and variants, customer records, order history and the SEO layer.

4kickerz-mat.com

4Kickerz

Full WooCommerce to Shopify move: products and variants, customer records, order history and the SEO layer.

Pricing

What does a WooCommerce to Shopify migration cost?

We do not publish a price list, because two WooCommerce stores of the same size can be very different jobs. A single language store with standard products is one thing. A store with WPML, custom fields, subscription plugins and several country sites is another.

So we scope it properly: a call, a look at your store and data, then a fixed price and timeline in writing. If you also want conversion work after launch, our Shopify CRO service picks up where the migration ends. For other platforms, see our Shopify migration service overview.

FAQ

WooCommerce to Shopify migration questions

How long does a WooCommerce to Shopify migration take?▼
It depends on the size of the catalogue, how many languages or country stores you run, and how much of the theme is custom. We give you a timeline after reviewing the store on a call, not before, because a number given without seeing the data is a guess.
Will I lose my Google rankings when I move from WooCommerce to Shopify?▼
Rankings drop when old URLs return 404 errors or when titles and descriptions are lost. We redirect every indexable WooCommerce URL to its Shopify equivalent, carry over the Yoast or Rank Math meta, and check every redirect after launch. That removes the usual causes of a post migration traffic loss.
Can customers keep their passwords?▼
No platform can move passwords, because they are stored as one way hashes. Customer records, addresses and order history do move. On Shopify's newer customer accounts, shoppers sign in with a one time code sent by email, so there is no password to reset.
Do you migrate order history?▼
Yes. Past orders move with their line items, totals, dates and the customer they belong to, so customers can see their history and your reporting keeps its baseline.
What happens to my WooCommerce plugins?▼
Each plugin is replaced by a native Shopify feature, a Shopify app or a small piece of theme code. We list every active plugin during the audit and agree the replacement for each one before the build starts.
Can you migrate a multilingual WooCommerce store?▼
Yes. We did exactly this for Space of Space, a bilingual Czech and English store. Translations move into Shopify's language setup and every language version keeps its own redirects and SEO meta.
Will my store go offline during the migration?▼
No. Your WooCommerce store keeps trading while we build and test on Shopify. At cutover we import any orders and customers created since the first run, then switch the domain.
How much does a WooCommerce to Shopify migration cost?▼
We scope every migration on a call after reviewing the store, then send a fixed price. The main cost drivers are catalogue size, number of languages or country stores, custom functionality and whether you want a new theme built.
